Many of our customers build up a stock at home so that they always have enough tins and want to benefit from our attractive graduated prices. In many cases, the question arises: How should I store my snus or nicotine pouches correctly?

In this article, we would like to go into this question in detail and explain how you can extend the shelf life.

What does snus contain?

Snus is made from tobacco, flavorings, water and salt and is subject to food law. As the tobacco leaves contain nicotine, no additional nicotine is required during production. These various raw materials are then processed into a mass and then filled into pouches. In contrast to a White Dry Portion snus, Original Portion snus has a moisture content on the surface. The moisture content on the surface means that the effect develops more quickly.

What do Nicotine Pouches contain?

Nicotine pouches, also known as all-white snus, are tobacco-free and contain salt, water, nicotine (in the form of liquid or salt), flavors, humectants and cellulose. The cellulose serves as a tobacco substitute and as a base material for nicotine pouches. Cellulose is a natural plant fiber and is found in trees such as pines, spruces, oaks, beeches and many other types of trees. Cotton and paper are also made from cellulose. The cellulose used for Nicotine pouches is subject to very strict quality tests.

Why do snus and nicotine pouches contain moisture?

The moisture content helps to ensure that the effect of the respective product is released quickly as soon as the pouch comes into contact with your saliva. Without a moisture content, the pouches would be inedible and so hard that they could no longer be positioned comfortably.

How to store snus and nicotine pouches correctly?

To extend the shelf life of your favorite products and protect them from drying out, we recommend storing them in a cool place away from light. The optimum temperature is 2 - 8 degrees, whereby the fridge is ideal for storage. Alternatively, you can also place your products in the freezer compartment. Due to the moisture content, the bags can freeze, which is why you need to defrost the tin for approx. 1 hour.

Many consumers swear that snus and nicotine pouches taste better when chilled.

That's why snus and nicotine pouches have an expiry date

As snus and nicotine pouches are subject to food law, all products have an expiry date. The expiry date is normally one year after the production date. The expiry date can be found on the back of the can. Often only the production date is declared and not the expiry date. The salt contained in each sachet preserves the ingredients for at least 365 days. After the expiry date, the ingredients can crystallize and become hard, which means that the product is no longer edible.

To counteract the expiry date, we import the products directly from the producers every two weeks so that you always receive fresh, high-quality products from us.
